Sovereign Air movement have won a first order with PWP Building Services to supply five Air Handling Units for a vast new Amazon facility at Rugby Gateway; a 120 acre prime site development situated at the heart of the UK logistics ‘Golden Triangle’. The 120,000 Sq. ft. Amazon Warehouse and Distribution Centre is due to open in August 2017.

Sovereign are proud to have supplied and completed installation of the five air handling units together with the necessary secondary equipment to provide a cost effective and practical air handling solution for this eminent project:

The installation comprised:

2 spot cooling units (one external to the building; the other internally mounted on the mezzanine) c/w d/x cooling to serve the main warehouse floor area with a duty of 10.85 m3/s.

These units incorporate Reverse cycle evaporative cooling with a capacity of 200 kW.

1 ground floor amenities Heat Recovery AHU supply 0.4 m3/s extract 0.31 m3/sec. Actual Heat Recovery efficiency up to 90%

1 first floor offices Heat Recovery AHU supply 1.08 m3/s extract 0.8 m3/s. Actual Heat Recovery efficiency up to 86%

1 first floor offices AHU 2 actual extract air volume 0.87m3/sec

1 kitchen supply AHU 2.82 m3/s: incorporating tempered air supply to the main kitchen extract canopy below.

Further Information

Sovereign worked closely with PWP Building Services’ appointed controls specialist and integrated with the Facilities Building Management System (BMS) using state-of-the-art IT monitoring to maximise energy savings, provide environmental benefits; as well as ensuring reliability, security and efficiency. Units delivered in two phases late May and early June. Installation and wiring all complete by mid-July.

As with any on site activity, health and safety is always a major concern and using a Hiab provided by Sovereign, we carefully lifted all units directly into position; working professionally alongside our colleagues to fully comply with all existing safety requirements.
